SBE Transmissivity, Beam Attenuation (tranmissivity, c)

Overview

Transmissivity and Beam Attenuation products are computed from SBE 16 plus raw voltages on buoy K. The beam attenuation is based upon a single wavelength, as opposed to the multiple wavelengths possible in the optics data stream. In order for the processing to begin, the required transmissivity coefficients must be available in the NetCDF files. The reader is encouraged to consult [ WETLABTR ] for a detailed explanation. The tranmissivity is computed first, then the beam attenuation as a function of transmittance. This parameter is computed for SBE16s.

Input

  1. Transmittance counts, transmissivity_counts

Ancillary Requirements

The following coefficients must be taken from the WETLabs spec sheet corresponding to the individual tranmissometer.

Vdark: the factory-supplied dark voltage offset for the instrument.
Vref: the factory-supplied clean water offset
path length: either 25 or 10cm (nominally 25?)

MATLAB m-file

Consult the appendix for the implementation.

Output

transmittance: units of percent
c: units of 1/m
