There are a couple of near-fatal situations that could occur, most of which would probably involve hardware failure of the various computers in the system.
If power goes down, various computers involved in the processing may come back up in a incompatible states, i.e. timing out on DHCP requests to the nameserver, timing out on requests to SMB servers, etc. Some steps to get the systems back in sync include
A crontab job for root will try to test for network reachability each hour, and will attempt to restart network services itself if power goes down, so what follows need only be attempted when someone is currently at PHOG. Restart the network services on micmac with the command
sudo service network restart |
Make sure that both gorry and gorry2 are successfully logged in as the gomoos user.
