| Description | The instruments that monitor cDOM fluorescence emit specific wavelengths of light into a water column causing dissolved organic material to fluoresce. The fluorescence provides an estimate of colored dissolved organic material present in the water and hence the amount of dissolved organic cargon in the water. This measurement is relevant to issues of aquaculture, eutrophication (over abundance of nutrients), primary production, fisheries, and ecosystem health. |
