- The Earth Sciences 1 lecture notes look fantastic, and I teach a similar course at UNSW now. I would really like a copy of the notes for myself.
If I used any of the notes I would give you due credit as the
author. Are you happy for me to download the notes and print them out?
(Dr. Matthew England, University of New South Wales, Sydney; September 1996)

- Thank you for allowing me to use some of your online
exercises as a part of my instructional efforts. I teach an introductory course in physical oceanography for our
undergraduate majors in oceanography and have recently had my students use some of your
online exercises. The feedback has been very positive. For example,
even though they had already learned about density, stratification, and
water mass formation, my students found your third and fourth exercises
very interesting and useful because they could interact with the exercises
and learn from their mistakes and misinterpretations. I think these kinds of exercises can really reinforce student learning.
I commend you on your efforts. (Dr. Greg Crawford, Department of Oceanography, Humboldt State University, April 2000)
- I have been a great fan of your oceanography site for a few years now. I frequently refer to it in an ocean waves course I teach as well as in more informal e-mails and conversations. (Prof. Mark Cramer, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, July 2000)

- Thanks for making your lecture notes available on the Internet! I am taking an Oceanography course in Atlanta now and no syllabus or lecture notes were provided. Your notes have helped me select and research interesting areas in anticipation of their coverage in my class. (Mark Kraieski, Atlanta, Georgia, July 1997)
- Thank you. A couple of months ago I was planning to establish a problem statement on waves. Your web pages were helpful to me and I chose my problem statement "How does depth of water influence wave speed?" I built a small motorized wave generator and utilized an aquarium which had a slope and also a manual wave paddle. I measured 3 different depths of water with 4 variable wave speeds. The data showed that the wave speed was slower in shallower water and wave length was also smaller. Amazingly enough, I must have put together a good science fair project because last week it was announced that I had placed second out of the entire Middle School. Thanks again for your initial help. (A. Kerhulas, California, USA)
- My name is Jae Fernandez, I am 11 years old and I was doing research on
