Whirlpools formed by the tide in the Saltstraumen, northern Norway. The turbulence and vertical motion produced by the strong flowing tidal current is so strong that deep water fish are occasionally brought to the surface with such force that their swim bladder bursts and the fish can be collected dead from the surface.
