Salinity S (blue) and suspended matter concentration C (kg m-3, light brown) at a fixed location in the Weser River estuary under different river discharge conditions. The most frequent discharge rate is about 200 m3 s-1. Discharge rates at the time of measurement were:

  2.   610 m3 s-1
  3.  290 m3 s-1
  4.  110 m3 s-1
